I noticed that GamesNosh was looking for contributors to their site and that had me wondering. How many of you actually care about DOTA2, or any of those other eSports games?
If anyone is interested enough I will consider writing something about DOTA2 as an example for my application. If not then I'll be more than happy to consider something else.

Dota 2 and the games a like put me off. People tend to get way into it, over the top rage levels and just over all poor people skills. I like the concept of online sport games for prizes but, when you sit down at a place that lets anyone pay 12 bucks for a full day of gaming and watch these people play LoL. I swear I've seen people nearly turn and punch the guy next to him playing Left 4 Dead 2. That said, I wouldn't be against reading about the game because to be frank, I love games of all sorts and learning all I can about them so. I wouldn't mind to see what you bring to the table. Hell, might even change my opinion!

I used to play League of Legends a lot. I played it for almost two years, but eventually I realized it was negatively affecting my mood throughout the day, and I just wasn't having fun playing it anymore. I still like keeping up with news, but these competitive MOBA type games are just too serious and toxic for me.

It's way better when you have friends who know what they're doing then going solo where you're literally at the mercy of dumb foreigners that have never heard of wards. Trust me, it's way better.

I've actually started playing Heroes of Newearth a lot lately with friends. I'm still trying to learn the 'insulting' system they use. Because a lot of it doesn't make a bit of sense to me. I never tried league before, seemed just a little much because of the rage levels it seems to induce on people. But, I suppose the anger and trash talking is just something you get in this games lol.

It is something that you get in all games, really. Especially in MOBA and FPS games .

Yeah. I'm not saying it's just that game itself. More along the lines of just some of the major ones. The strange thing is, when I play games that are small like Mechwarrior Online. We're all extremely civil to each other, even while dismantling them in the process with explodie things.

We're all extremely civil to each other, even while dismantling them in the process with explodie things. The same can be said about larger game communities and playerbases. My brother plays a lot of EVE online and some of the player created corps are very civil and polite. The same is with some people on DotA and most other MOBA games - it depends entirely on who you happen to be playing with and weather they have a vague grasp on the English language on an English speaking matchmaking queue or not. Not that I have anything against Russians that feed, insist on insulting me throughout the entire game and are one of the many reasons why I'm in below 3000 on my ranked MMR, but there is a fair share of people that do speak English and are just as bad (me included, but I'm still learning). So yeah, as I said - completely depends who you play with. I've played arena shooters like Quake III Arena and the Unreal Tournament series, and objective shooters like TF2. It was always with smaller communities of gamers or clans and they usually have been very fun to play with and had always been an all round positive social experience with them in general (tl;dr, i liked playing with them and making new friends). All I'll say is that if you look past the vitriol and the toxicity of some of the people that play MOBA games, calling you a noob faggot each time you feed, you will eventually find people who are just as polite that play MOBAs as your friends in the Mechwarrior Online community are.

I love DotA and CS:GO purely as a spectator (I travelled from Aus to the US for TI4). I don't really care to play them a great deal anymore, as it usually results in me just getting angry which is not really desirable when I am supposed to be enjoying myself with my hobby.

I've played it, and have had friends try to coach me through it. I can certainly see what they like about it, but it just isn't the kind of game I'd put the required hundreds of hours into to git gud.
